Seit über 15 Jahren ist Bulgarien der Knotenpunkt auf Akims Weg von Projekten in der EU und darüber hinaus. Unzählige Künstler*innen und Interessierte aller Altersgruppen sind unter Akims Koordination auf diese Weise aufeinandergetroffen und in einen kreativen Austausch gegangen. Jetzt erreicht die Projektserie „Balkan Voyage Voyage“ im Dorf Brestnitsa, am Fuße des Balkangebirges ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt: Die Errichtung eines Fachwerkhauses unter dem Titel „das Experiment“.

For more than 15 years Bulgaria has been the hub on Akim's journey of projects in the EU and beyond. Countless artists and interested people of all ages met in this way under Akim's coordination and entered into a creative exchange. Now the project series “Balkan Voyage Voyage” in the village of Brestnitsa, at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, has reached its preliminary climax: the construction of a half-timbered house under the title “The Experiment”. a refuge for the journeys to come.

Der Hausbau beginnt jetzt, in diesem Sommer 2021. Neben der Koordination übernimmt Akim den Großteil der handwerklichen Aufgaben. Dafür greift er auf seine jahrzehntelange Erfahrung im Bau- und Konstruktionsbereich, insbesondere mit Holz, aber auch anderen Materialien zurück. Der Bau erfolgt in mehreren Phasen und wird über Spenden finanziert. Das Fundament ist bereits gegossen. Ein kleiner Hütte zum Schlafen und eine Schuppen für Bauwerkzeuge stehen ebenfalls schon auf dem Gelände. Die erste Phase läuft also bereits.

Wichtig ist Akim und seinen Mitstreiter*innen, dass sie natürliche Produkte in Brestnitsa oder der Umgebung erwerben, um sie als Baumaterialien für das Fachwerkhaus zu nutzen. Das betrifft sowohl neue Materialien wie Stroh oder Schafwolle, als auch bereits genutzte, alte Materialien wie Dachziegel, Bruchsteine und anderes. Sie stehen dafür in einem engen Austausch mit den umliegenden Anwohnenden und ihren Gewerben.

The house construction will start now, this summer 2021. In addition to the coordination, Akim will take over most of the manual tasks. To do this, he draws on his decades of experience in the building and construction sector, especially with wood, but also with other materials. The construction takes place in several phases and is financed by donations. The foundation has already been poured. A small wooden hut for sleeping and a shed for building tools are also already on the site. So the first phase is already underway.

It is important to Akim and his colleagues that they purchase natural products in Brestnitsa or the surrounding area in order to use them as building materials for the half-timbered house. This applies to both new materials such as straw or sheep's wool, as well as old materials such as roof tiles, rubble stones and others that have already been used. To this end, they are in close contact with the surrounding residents and their businesses.

Während der verschiedenen Bauphasen bist du als Spender*in dazu eingeladen, das Projekt zu besuchen oder dich in einer gewünschten Form direkt vor Ort zu beteiligen. Das gesamte Gelände ist dabei Teil des Prozesses: du entscheidest zum Beispiel, wenn mit deiner Spende ein bestimmter Baum gepflanzt werden soll oder du dir die Ernte eines der vielen hier vorhandenen Erzeugnisse wünschst, etwa Lindenblüten, Maulbeeren, Pflaumen, Walnüsse– oder du erhältst aus den lokalen Erzeugnissen gewonnene Produkte wie Marmelade oder Obstbrand. Wenn du vorbeikommst kannst du auch Ausflüge zur nahegelegenen Höhlen machen und hast die Gelegenheit, am Nachthimmel in ungekannter Klarheit die Milchstraße zu beobachten.

As a donor, you are invited to visit the project during the various construction phases or to participate directly on site in any way you want. The entire site is part of the process: you decide, for example, if a certain tree is to be planted with your donation or if you wish to harvest one of the many products available here, such as linden blossoms, mulberries, plums, walnuts - or you receive Products made from local ingredients such as jam or fruit brandy. If you come by you can also make trips to the nearby caves and have the opportunity to observe the Milky Way in the night sky in unprecedented clarity.

Mit deiner Spende wird ein Ort der Begegnung, des künstlerischen Austauschs errichtet. In dem Haus sollen unterschiedlichste Projekte für den mehrsprachigen künstlerischen, kreativen Austausch aller Altersgruppen stattfinden. Es sollen dort auch Residencies möglich sein und das Haus kann Spender*innen, Freund*innen oder Familienangehörigen als Rückzugsort dienen. Du kannst aktiv mit beeinflussen, wofür das Haus nach seiner Fertigstellung genutzt werden kann.

With your donation, a place of encounter and artistic exchange will be built. A wide variety of projects for multilingual artistic, creative exchange of all age groups are to take place in the house. Residencies should also be possible there and the house can serve as a retreat for donors, friends or family members. You can actively influence what the house can be used for after its completion.

Für das Projekt „ Ideenfriedhof“ kaufte Akim 2018 gemeinsam mit dem Künstlerkollegen Vikenti Komitski ein Grundstück in Brestnitsa, Bulgarien. Weil wir eine Wiese für das Projekt gesucht haben, legten wir keinen Wert darauf, dass ein Gebäude auf dem Gelände steht. Das Grundstück war also leer, allerdings war im Grundstückvertrag ein Haus erwähnt. Von einem der Verkäufer, Stefan, gab es dann später die Auskunft, dass dort bis in die 70er-Jahre ein Haus gestanden hatte. Er zeigte uns alte Fotos aus seiner Studentenzeit, wo er mit Freunden auf der Terrasse des Hauses steht, sowie ein kleines Ölgemälde des alten Hauses mit Garten, das in seiner Wohnung in Pleven hängt. Von all dem war 2018 nichts mehr zu sehen. Für uns waren die Bilder des alten Hauses ein Zeichen, dass auch wir auf dem Grundstück wieder ein Haus errichten. Bei dem Bau des neuen Gebäudes orientieren wir uns an dem alten, originalen Gebäude sowie an alten, erhaltenen Gebäuden im Dorf und in der Umgebung.

In 2018, Akim and his artist colleague Vikenti Komitski bought a piece of land in Brestnitsa, Bulgaria for the "Cemetery of Ideas" project. Because we were looking for a meadow for the project, we didn't care that a building was on the site. So the property was empty, but a house was mentioned in the property contract. One of the salespeople, Stefan, later reported that there had been a house there until the 1970s. He showed us old photos from his student days, where he is with friends on the terrace of the house, as well as a small oil painting of the old house with a garden that hangs in his apartment in Pleven. None of this could be seen in 2018. For us, the pictures of the old house were a sign that we are building a house again on the property. When building the new building, we are guided by the old, original building as well as old, preserved buildings in the village and the surrounding area.
